Granting scholarships and gifts to children of 07 provinces participating in launching ceremony to accompany women in the border region 2018-2020

On the morning of March 7th, 2018, the National Fund for Vietnamese Children awarded scholarships and gifts to 220 children in special circumstances and difficulties in the program “Launching ceremony to accompany women in the border region 2018-2020” jointly organized by Vietnam Women's Union and Border Guard Command in Dinh Lap border district, Lang Son province. Attending the program were Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice President of Vietnam; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, President of the Vietnam Women’s Union; Ms. Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, Lang Son Provincial Party Secretary; Lieutenant-Commander of Border Guard Brigade, Mr. Hoang Xuan Chien; Director of The National Fund for Vietnamese Children, Mr. Hoang Van Tien, along with many representative of all levels, central branches, localities, sponsors, Dasnet Charity Fund and ethnic minorities of Lang Son.

At the program, Vice President of the State Dang Thinh Ngoc Thinh - President of the Sponsoring Council of The National Fund for Vietnamese Children awarded 220 scholarships and gifts to 220 poor students in the border communes of 07 provinces; Each scholarship had value of 1 million VND and each gift had value of 300,000 VND, corresponding to the total support of 286 million VND from the budget of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children. Among those there were 100 poor students from Lang Son; other provinces Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Son La and Lai Chau provinces had 20 children each province.

 


The program expressed the sentiments and responsibilities of the entire society, organizations, enterprises and individuals as well as the various levels of the Women's Union and the Border Guards across the country to jointly support border communes and islands facing extreme hardship, the ethnic minorities, and to take care for children in border communes. The implementation of the program provided opportunities for ethnic minority women in disadvantaged regions, border and island areas to improve their material and spiritual life, contributing to the socio-economic development, strengthening national defense, to build a strong political system in border areas.
